Introduction to Qt / QML (Part 02) - A Short History of Qt
In this tutorial you will learn where Qt comes from and why its history is still relevant when you work with Qt today.
Sometimes you will be asking yourself, "is QML the right choice for my application?" We will try to give an answer to that question. In this video you will learn about some of the different display technologies in Qt: Qt Widgets, QML / Qt Quick, QGraphicsView, mixed Qt and OpenGL, mixed Qt and Web / HTML5, and Qt 3D. It is essential to understand what options are available in Qt for building great user interfaces, and what Qt Quick can actually do for your application.
If you want to have a look at various GUI options available within Qt, here you have some example videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmyjaOf_HOQ showcases Qt3D and Qt Quick integration;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_idc9BBRuI is a technical talk about how to integrate raw OpenGL with Qt Quick;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swP3GWd1Zzc and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCBESbHSR1k showcase the flexibility of Qt 3D rendering.

The video is presented by Jesper Pedersen, who started with Qt back when Qt was widgets only and the version was 1.44, which gives him 21 years of experience with Qt. Since 2000 he has taught almost 100 Qt classes, ranging from Qt Widgets to QML. Heck, Jesper even taught a few classes on QTopia Core — Trolltech's initial attempt at creating a phone stack. Today Jesper holds a fancy business title, but that doesn't prevent him from coding both in his job and in his spare time.
